Both are routes to Stress and deteriorating Wellbeing.
When your manager does not take the time or care to support your progression and development, you become rusty and deteriorate.
When you are given work, which is uninspiring, does not stretch you, or make use of your skills and strengths.
You are given projects that are less meaningful, under-utilising your skills but too time-consuming so that you can’t take on the work you are capable of.
Whilst some employees are ok to plod along and get a pay-check at the end of the month, the others who have aspirations and want to be challenged are left to Rust and become dis-interested and feel unappreciated.
It's even worse when they see others getting the opportunities.
The issue is as a Leader, you will see this as dis-engagement. You may even believe because they don’t say anything, that they are fine to continue.
Leaders please ensure you stay close to this.
