Glimmer, shimmer, smile

I’ve been busy working on my glimmers
Which is why I have been spending less time on Social Media platforms like LinkedIn, and my happiness rating has gone up.
Taking note of that spark — the micro-moment of calm, joy, or warmth.
My glimmers.....
The smell of warm bread and fresh coffee.
The orange glow stretching across an early sky
My children’s cheeky and infectious laughter
The softness of my cat’s head under my hand
Drinking thick hot chocolate with my daughter on a cold crisp day
Cooking with my mum as we chat about memories
Just sitting in nature
As a Brain Coach, I see every day how powerful these glimmers are. They may be brief, but neurologically, they matter. They soften the Fight-or-Flight response, awaken positive emotion, and create the neural pathways that help us feel grounded and resilient.
They’re subtle, but they’re the foundation for balance — especially when life’s stressors don’t slow down.
And the irony?
We miss most of them simply because they’re small, free, and familiar.
We overlook them because they come disguised as ordinary life.Because we are used to chasing the big events, grand gestures, or dramatic breakthroughs, when our nervous system is quietly asking for something much simpler.
As we move into the festive season — a time that brings both joy and overwhelm — give yourself permission to pause. Notice the micro-moments that help your brain reset. The small gifts of happiness which last forever.
Notice them, savour them, and create more of them - Be happy!
